LOGLINE: A hedonistic stoner genie, cast out of his utopian kingdom and down to earth, must learn to serve others in order to return home.
Santina, a self-serving, canabu-smoking, Genie-in-training, cruises the streets of Genia disrupting the whole order of the utopian kingdom. But, it’s not until he breaks the law and sleeps with the King’s daughter, that he gets exiled to earth through a centuries old lantern, only able to return home once he reaches an elevated level of servitude and becomes a true genie.
On earth, Santina quickly loses track of the lanterns whereabouts, and is forced to wander the earth, playing witness to the worst periods in human history, including Nazi Germany and Hiroshima. Driven to despair, he goes into hiding for another twenty years, only to emerge again in San Francisco at the height of the Anti-War and civil rights movement. It’s there that he gets reunited with his long lost lantern and realizes that in order to return home, he needs to be at the service of the lanterns owner, Jackie Day. But Santini’s passion for the growing counterculture, his thirst for pleasure and love of “canabu” gets him mixed up with the Black Panthers, the Hell’s Angels and a crooked politician and he’ll soon realize that his only way home is to serve the people and Jackie whole heartedly.
The story is a timely ode to a magical herb and a cultural revolution, and just like in every revolution… a leader will rise!
